I'm a muslim so eating non-halal meat is forbidden yet I am envious of the barrage of great smelling breakfast bars/delis in the Liverpool Street area.
I walk past Ashby's on my way into work and discovered that all their meat products are halal. Upon looking at the menu there is a huge variety of meats product now available for me to enjoy. Now I can treat myself to the occasional bacon & sausage sandwich in the morning or a beef lasagne at lunch time. To have a halal breakfast and lunch venue in the Liverpool Street area makes my day slightly more bearable.
The staff at Ashby's are friendly and attentive, the quality of the food is excellent - as is the hygiene - which is more than can be said of the other establishments in the area!
If you're in the area give it a try...whether you're a muslim or not you won't be disappointed...I'm quickly discovering that Artillery Passage holds many delectable eateries that cater for people like me. Venues like this are more than just eateries - they allow muslims to feel more complete and integrated into the western culture - in New York there halal and kocher eateries all over the place - let's hope the City Of London continues to recognise niches in the market.
