Village Deli

My husband and I were passing and went to this cafe for a coffee and a bite to eat. it was very pleasant, nice coffee, nice atmosphere & staff. It’s even possible to leave your bag there overnight and get it back the next day with all the contents inside!

Staff were rude and gave me no help in working out what to ask for from the menu - I wanted a plateful of something, but the menu suggested all they did was Baguettes, Panini, etc. Eventually we negotiated down to a Baked Potato with Beans & Cheese. Then something much worse: one of the staff, sat outside smoking horribly heavy tobacco, came straight in and started serving customers, handling plates etc without any suggestion of clearing her lungs or washing her hands. Ugh!!! My Greek salad was swimming in thin liquor; my jacket potato was bland; the cheese and beans were the lowest possible quality. And with it all, the scent of heavy tobacco wafting in. Trading Standards ought to investigate this place: there's no way I'd ever eat here again.

good produce, helpfull staff,limited seating, good for coffee or breakfast and snscks.
