Frankly dishonest. Was blatantly lied to (by a Manager, no less) regarding the one-way fee assessment. I was deciding whether to return the car to Marble Arch itself, or to my point of ultimate departure, London City Airport, a mere 2.4 miles away. The manager assured me that the fee to be assessed would be a mere ten pounds, and that I should ignore the 166.66 pound fee that was quoted. When I questioned her as to whether that was really true, and shouldn't I trust what was in black and white before me, she actually acted offended and assured me multiple times that she would personally see to it that I was charged only ten pounds. I foolishly took her at her word. Well, as you might imagine, that was all simply a lie. For the grand "privilege" of dropping the car a mere two miles from where it was rented, I was charged an additional 211 dollars. All told, my 38 hour rental was more than 700 dollars.
Additionally, the car class I reserved was not available, and they were deceptive as to the up charge for a different car (She offered an "automatic car at no additional charge," but when I said no thanks, I prefer manual, she did not clarify that the manual *would* incur an up-charge--it's on me for not checking that, but poor customer service in any event).
When I called to ask about the manager's misrepresentations, I was treated rudely and condescendingly by staff.
A miserable rip-off of an experience. Avoid at all costs

I recently rented a van from Hertz in Marble Arch and purchased the 'zero excess, no worries' Supercover.

Unfortunately during my rental the van was damaged, upon returning the van I was told this was fine as I had supercover. Having notified the member of staff of damages, returned the keys I left the centre.

Nearly a month later I've been invoiced for £2400 and presented with a document I've never seen before which I was allegedly supposed to have signed (despite never being asked to do this). The damage I've been invoiced for includes not only damage to the van during my rental but previously documented historical damage.

I suspect that a member of staff at the rental centre was supposed to, or forgot to, ask me to sign this documentation before I left.

Obviously I am contesting this charge, but even the fact that I need to do this somewhat undermines the 'no worries' aspect of 'Supercover'.

My advice: Do not use Hertz. Especially not this one.

My recommendation: Sixt Vauxhall Grove always seem to be pretty good when I rent from them.

We waited 5 minutes before being greeted by a member of the stuff. When going through the details of the rental it was asked if us multiple times if we'd like to switch to a hybrid and every time we said no, but they kept asking. We then had to wait over 15 minutes for our car "inspection" to be ready. We were supposed to get our car at 12:00pm. We got there at 11:55am and did not leave until after 12:45pm. We were the only customers there after 12:00. The only good thing about this place was that the facility was clean and well kept. One of the most frustrating car rental experiences.

I hired a car here for the Easter weekend. I was offered vw estate, but when I asked for something smaller, they gave me a brand new (<500 miles) Alfa Romeo Brera. The staff could not have been more helpful. "That manager" alluded to in other reviews does not work there any more.

I have used the Branch for 15 Years and have dealt with Managers all through this time. Great Service all the time. I am a Gold 5 Star Club Member.

Hertz Marble Arch. Without exaggeration the worst customer service I have ever encountered. One member of staff on duty, intermittently disappearing downstairs to argue with her boss (audible to all); supervisor screeching back at her (audible to all); phoning her friend (on the front counter, as people waited to be served) to b*tch about said supervisor, then proceeding to talk to us like she'd just scraped us off her shoe. Lied to us, mislead us, argued with us like it was her last day at work because she'd just auditioned for the X Factor or something. Mickey Mouse franchise op. Sack them all, "managers" included and give their jobs to people who value them enough to provide a professional, friendly service. Utterly vile. You are warned.

I am extremely worried. I booked a car for this location and tried calling to change the pickup time and no one has been picking up the phone for the past two days. I would let the phone ring for 20 minutes and no result.

This is a poorly run office. On a recent trip to London (June, 2009), they lost our reservation which we had made on-line, and then told us they had no cars available. (We had to take the train to our destination that day.) So we made a new reservation for the next morning, and when we arrived there were about 15 other customers waiting. All of us were told that there were no cars available, even if we had reservations. As other customers returned cars, they were re-rented to waiting customers on a first-come, first-served basis. We waited 2 hours before getting a car. The staff and manager (oh, that manager!!) were unapologetic, unhelpful, and just plain nasty. Be aware that the office closes very early (1700) on weekdays, and cars cannot be returned after closing. A very, very bad experience overall.

On the bright side, once we got home I contacted Hertz's corporate office, and they agreed to refund us the cost of our train tickets, which I thought was very fair.
