Hype Coiffure

After years of getting my hair cut at a hairdressing college in Notting Hill I decided to treat myself to professional trim so I booked an appointment at Hype in Brixton. When I phoned to make the appointment I asked how much it would cost and was told £15.50 so I made an appointment for the following Monday. When I arrived I was given a gown to put on and the stylist showed me to a chair. She confirmed I wanted a trim and I showed her how much I wanted cut off. When the stylist finished cutting my hair, she didn’t show me the back of my hair with a mirror or ask how I wanted it finished off instead she walked away and got my jacket. In the meantime I combed my hair and put it back in one. When she returned I asked for some gel, so she hung up my jacket and returned with some gel which she smoothed on my hair. I then finished tying my hair back while she brought my jacket back. When I went to pay she asked if I had been given a price when I phoned so I told her £15.50 and she replied, well it’s £18.45 for me. I asked if I had been booked in for her and she said yes so I was puzzled as to why I was being charged more, surely the person booking the appointment should have known who charges what. In the end I decided not to argue to toss I thought she’s obviously included her tip in the price. Overall impression: sloppy service, questionable prices and sloppy haircut when I returned to work my friend trimmed stray bits of hair from the back as the cut wasn’t even. So it’s back to Notting Hill I go, a haircut takes three times as long because they are students but you can’t beat them for service pricing and end product!
