Helpful and knowledgeable, Quick walk-in and delivery of precise cut MDF. Many products and seems very wide range too.

Family run store, that's packed full of personality.
Something you don't see nowadays.
Great for getting your DIY bits from i find.

Incredibly unhelpful 30 April 930am, went to get some help with a key being cut for a lock I had.
The front door was not easily opened and once I was inside the staff were unhelpful. Local business needs to take care of people with kindness and respect.
I got none of that.

I'm a gardener and painter, and I founded quite convenient to have a hardware store close to my home. Today it was my first purchase after 1 year living in Dalston. My first purchase after having to leave this shop on 4 different occasions, all for the same reason: the girl. She not only attempt to charge double what it cost a product,3 times, but also attends horribly, she lost somewhere the happy spirit of the sales and communication. Could someone instruct that girl before placing her behind the counter? I'm constructive, and my intention is to return there when I need it.~

i have only ever had great experiences in this shop. i have found them incredibly helpful, always pleased to take the time to answer my many questions, and on a few occasions have gone far beyond the call of duty to suggest people/places to help assist with whatever problem i am trying to fix if they cannot help themselves.
i've even come a touch to late to get wood cut, and they could not have been more kind to take the time to do it.
highly recommend - a great local shop for all diy needs!

Totally unhelpful. It seemed that all that was important was handing over your cash. I asked about the strength of the wood available and received a shrug.

Also, you need to be ' in' a regular. If your face dont't fit, your face won't ever fit

If you're ordering MDF or other wood cut to size, you should consider any number of other services in the area. Their cuts are often out by as much as 10mm+ and when this happens, the service is terrible, no apology, no refund, no re-cut pieces. Most recently, they gave us a piece that was out by more than 100mm then proceeded to tell us that it's not their fault. Not the first time, and not the last, so we don't use them anymore.

I had a very bad experience in this store, I bought a pot of paint which the cashier opened for me to check the colour because they had no swatches. the lid was not closed carefully then put in a bag and leaked all over my kitchen/hands/washing machine and wooden shelves i had customed made form the same shop and kitchen floor.. this was a very dark brown wood paint; thankfully after 40min of rubbing and cleaning i managed to get it out.

Terrible customer service, rud on the phone and did not accept refunds or replacement. it was only a £7 pot of paint and the primer £4 which was in the same bag.

Sorry to say that they are not clever enough to keep their clients coming back. I am not that fussed about the money but I did expect a better service.

It's very unfortunate because it was my local wood workshop.
Response from
in response: The sample of colour is on a sticker on the front of tin, that clearly shows you the colour of the chocolate gloss. we told this lady we dont normally open tins due to accidents happening but opened it for her anyway to be helpful. We did close the tin up properly and place it in a carrier bag for her. where she then proceeded to drop the pot of paint in to her ikea shopping bag (which was on the floor) from the counter (which is a bout a 2foot drop) ,maybe in future will learn to becare more careful with open paint cans. this is the reason no refund was given. thanks.

I've had good service from KTS - wood cut straight away, sensible advice. An old-fashioned store in a good way.

I asked them some advice on shelf brackets and they didn't give me any, dismissed me with a "check what we have over there", just to carry on talking football

Second time, I asked for a board to be cut and they refused, told me to come back in half an hour. When I came back the shop was closed

The old guy seemed to be the shop owner but he doesn't care about customers at all. There will never be a third time.
