I booked a cab to Gatwick for an elderly family member. I was told it would be £40. When booking I repeated the fare out loud in front of a room full of people. Upon arriving at Gatwick the driver said it was £45. My family member (an elderly woman travelling alone) had just £40, so was unceremoniously marched to a cash till, which was upsetting for her. I called the booking line this morning to ask for an explanation, and was subjected to an aggressive, argumentative and unsympathetic tirade, during which I was accused of being a liar. A liar? Why on earth would I send an elderly family member off in a cab alone without enough money?! The facts are; I may have misheard or the firm may have misquoted a price - these things happen. My complaint is the defensive, aggressive attitude of the cab firm, firstly in the treatment of my relative, and secondly my treatment on the phone when I dared to question their service. Truly awful: we were quoted a twenty minute wait, called after forty five minutes. Very rude operator. Will not use again.

I have always found Greenwich Universal Cars to be a superb service, staffed by true professionals, and owned by a gentleman called Mohammed.

If you want a trustworthy, reliable car company then I cannot recommend them more highly.

I WOULD SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND NOT USING THE SERVICES OF GREENWICH UNIVERSAL CARS.

Firstly when trying to get to to the counter a group of thugish looking taxi drivers stood in the way and would not let me through until considerable requests for them to let me through.

Second, none of the staff speak English well at all and when asking for a taxi for the 02, a considerably well known landmark in the area, no one understood what I was saying. And incidentally I had to repeatedly ask the man at counter to book a taxi as he seemed more interested in talking to his fellow "workers".

Finally I just went outside and asked a driver waiting in his taxi in person instead, and yet again my simple request was not understood due to a nonunderstanding of English. When inside the taxi itself there was a delay setting off (I expressed that I had little time left to get my destination) because the driver was instead talking to the other drivers outside the car window rather than actually carry out the service of driving me to my destination.
