have had a horrible experience going to Manhattan Nails. At Ashfield Parade, Southgate. They also trade as Muse Beauty. I've been a good customer going to Manhattan Nails for some time now, usually very 3 weeks and had always had the very gentle technician with whom I've been very happy doing my nails as I need a gentle touch having very sensitive skin. (He has now left(
I had another technician a couple of times but found him rushed and a little heavy handed. Alex left in October. I have always been pleased with my nails although would have preferred to be able to pay by card, they insist on cash.
Having not been in for over 5 weeks. ( COVID followed by flu), my nails were very long. I have acrylics with gels polish in order to keep my long nails strong. The new guy asked me if I wanted my nails to be cut shorter, to which I replied just a little bit. I also indicated this with a hand sign as I know his English is very poor.
He cut my nails down really short. When I politely pointed out that he'd cut them much shorter than I'd asked, he told me that I'd asked him to cut them very short, which I had not. I called over the owner. I explained to him that he had cut my nails much too short, in fact the skin was exposed on my index finger the nail was so short. He said that he could build it up with some acrylic. Which effectively left a solid lump on the end of my finger.
Ali then filed this down so vigorously that he cut through my finger and made my finger bleed! I had to ask three times for some disinfectant to put on my bleeding finger.
I work in the service industry. And I've always been told that the customer is always right. I wasn't expecting any recompense just merely an acknowledgement, an apology that they had got it wrong. Instead, I got a torrent of rudeness from the owner accusing me of lying, telling me he had heard me say I wanted them cut short (it does sort of defeat the object of having acrylics and gels if they are short). He told me not to bother coming back. He then went on to say how my original technician had said I was a nightmare customer, which is very surprising considering he always was happy to see me and I always gave him a very generous tip.
I would not recommend this place, it has gone downhill, a trip to a nail technician should be a pleasurable pamper not endurance of abuse. In line with other reviews, the new management are rude, not interested in service only taking your hard earned cash.
