I wish i had read the review above before i went to James Shoe Repair. It has to be the WORST place i have ever been. They could not be more unprofessional, rude and just plain horrendous at repairing shoes. They don't repair, they destroy.
I took a pair of italian boots that i have had for 16 years (yes, 16 years) and asked them to resole them. I first checked that they would be able to match the age and quality of the boot and they assured me, albeit in a very patronising way, that thats exactly what theyre there for. THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. They took away the thick leather sole and slabbed on a thin piece of cheap plastic. Not only that but they left thick globs of glue all around it and a large crack right across the sole!

i was startled and asked 'do you call this repaired?' to which the man, who was very annoyed to be interrupted from watching the football game he had on, muttered 'yeah if it cracks open just bring them back' - as in, pay twice, to repair shoddy shoddy work. i was speechless. I have never ever encountered such awful service anywhere. The fact they they were so blatant and unconcerned by the horrendous job they did just made it worse. I could have demanded they repair it, but then i thought i actually didn't want them touching my shoes again so i walked out.
This place should be shut down. How they make any money at all is a shock to me. Please, if you value your goods and dont believe in paying for rubbish, give them a miss! Businesses like this should not be allowed to survive when there are so many decent places out there struggling to survive. It makes my blood boil just thinking about my boots- which i took to a new cobbler who shook his head in disgust when he saw the work that had been done- and that i had paid for!
Awful awful place.

Terrible

I had the worst shoe repair experience in my life here. I took my most prized YSL evening heels to be re-heeled. When I picked them up there was glue all over the shoe, the new heels looked unfinished and there were scratches on the toe where there had been none.

They didn't offer me a refund, but they told me they'd repair it. So I had to make a second trip and when I came back the scratches were still on the toe and they denied putting them there. They refused to give me my money back.

There's nothing I could do about it because they take payment upfront. I normally don't write reviews, but this has been such a terrible experience I want everyone to avoid this place. The owner called 'to make amends' but instead put the onus on me, asking if he should fire the employee - it's his business not mine! He can make that decision. Avoid this shoddy place at all costs.
