In Step

On first impressions In Step seems very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable but - be warned! Their stock is fairly limited and they are not afraid to sell the last pair they have even if it's not quite right by persuading you that an inner sole will do the job. Unfortunately I accepted this idea for my 3 year old. Within 10 days he had cuts and blisters on the back of his heels. The worst and most shocking part of In Step's service came when I returned with a miserable little boy. The manager was totally unwilling to help, very defensive and quite frankly rude. She told me it was my fault because he shouldn't be wearing the shoes every day and that, as the shoes weren't actually faulty, they wouldn't help me. At £40 for a pair of shoes I assumed one pair was enough (and quite noticeably wasn't told otherwise when I bought them).

I would only use this shop as an absolute last resort. Thankfully there are several genuinely helpful shops in this area. Please, for the sake of your child's feet - go to the others!
