I have been their customer since 2005 and always happy to go back. You have to be specific with what you want done but still at 20 pounds for wash and cut (long hair) very reasonable.
Service was always nice, wait not too long.
I love that the Aussie lady cuts with a blade. Lost art I say.

I've been going to see Matt at Mr Toppers for the last 5 years, approx. every 6 weeks. I get a friendly chat, some hairstyling advice, a warm welcome and a shiny quiff even Mark Kermode has complemented me on. If you time it wrong there can be an hour+ wait to get Matt, but with sandwich bars and pubs nearby, it's not a wait I mind. Worth calling ahead to see if he's available (I think it's only Thurs-Sat he works). And at these prices, I have to say it's the best cut in London for aging rockers/ex indie kids/guys who know their Dax from their Black & White.

I have been going to this branch regularly for over 8 years. Never any probs. Family and friends still talk to me. Clients still employ me. No compulsion to chat during the haircut. Even my ultra-fussy sons go there.

I give this 5/10 because it's literally a 50-50 chance. I had a lady cut my hair and she was impatient and unwelcoming of my request for her to provide me with a scissor cut - despite I expressed it to be no problem to pay extra. She didn't cut my hair properly, and her fingers stank of tobacco. she was slim, 5'5 and was mediterranean in appearance, and she frowned at me when I requested tissue to wipe away the fallen hairs from my face after she finished.

However, the next time I visited, a friendly male provided me with a far superior service by comparison. So, I shall return, but I will be very mindful of who I permit near me with a scissors/clippers!

I have been a couples of time and got male hair-dressers who were really good but yerterday got a female hair-dresser who was terrible. I have a very easy hair and only wanted clipped to number 1.
She left my hair uneven, did not pay attention, had to tell her to clip my sideburns and neck and used clipping machines not suitable.
Be carefull who you get, from now on I will if I ever come back.

Best hairdressers in town, very good stylists, all chatty and friendly..completely unpretentious..anyone who pays over £100 for a haircut is a fool..i get a haircut and decent beard trim for a tenner..quality.

i think toppers is a great hairdressers. however the prices have shot sky high over the last 6 months, ladies haircuts used to be £10 the next time i went it was £14 then 8 weeks later it went up to £20 this is still reasonable but the sign outside needs to be changed £7 is very misleading. i repeat it is still reasonable but should be made clearer on the main sign outside. it entices women inside and is misleading.Thank you.
