The premise of Discover Children’s Story Centre is to improve literacy, and their programme of workshops, installations and activities attempts to do this by encouraging creativity and imagination. In practical terms, books are brought to life with multi-sensory displays, children are invited to follow indoor trails, play with musical instruments and dress up, immersing themselves in the stories. Children are also encouraged to participate in the storytelling of popular books like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Clarice Bean. On Saturday mornings Discover Children’s Story Centre runs a FREE club for children with disabilities/SEN and their families. School visits are welcome if booked in advance and themed private parties can also be arranged. This charity-run centre is open six days a week and every day during the school holidays and admission is £5 per adult/child. £18 for a family of 4. £4.50 Concessions and Newham residents. Under 2s go Free.

Queue to get in. Very slow staff on desk. Could be so much better. There's a lot of surfaces and not much 'stuff' to be played with. This was particularly the case in the space bit downstairs. Dress up outfits grubby - need a wash.
