A fringe venue for theatre and comedy above the Oxford Arms pub in Camden Town, the Etcetera Theatre was founded in 1986. Then, David Bidmead came up with the idea to use the pub’s small function room for small cultural events such as readings, theatre and comedy. Today it is a hire-only venue that can be used for rehearsals, castings, filming, readings and evening performances. Most shows run from Tuesday to Sunday, normally for one to three weeks.
In 1996, the Etcetera won the Guinness Ingenuity Award for Pub Theatre and it was also nominated for the Peter Brook Empty Space Award.
Since 1986, the Etcetera is a key venue of the London Fringe. Not only is it a intimate and versatile venue for new writing events, comedy, magic, musicals, readings and previews but it also actively supports writers and new writing in general.
