Hi, next month I am planning to go to the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This will be the first premiere that I will attend and was just wondering if anyone had any advice of what time to get there, what to bring and just tips on what and what not to do?

Thanks Happy

Take an umbrella even if it's very sunny, you can never count on British weather.

Take things to eat because once you get behind the barrier they is no chance you'll be able to leave and come back unless you have a lot of friends saving your place.

I feel that Harry Potter will be a very busy premiere so I would suggest to get there very early...maybe about 7am or even camp out overnight if you can.

The Celebs mostly always have a pen with them but just incase take a sharpie with you and keep your photos that you want signed in a folder to stop them from being folded or ripped.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Time To Arrive?

People *will* begin to line up overnight. Others will arrive from 6-8am probably. And then a constant stream all day after that.

Set Up?

Of course no one knows, but the last one was in the gardens and this will almost certainly be the case too. So the early lines will be to get into the ‘pens’ inside the gardens and to secure a barrier spot there. Everyone has their own best places, but history does say that as the stars walk into the gardens is a good place. Sometimes they have the TV interviews around the fountains, and it can be hard to get stars to come over to sign for you. Outside you can wait by the cars (risky but successful) or by the cinema doors (very crowded!).

What to take?

Well food, and water for one! Actually too much is a bad idea, as time goes on you may not be able to leave your spot and will regret drinking too much! Food is expensive around Leicester Square and is only of the fast variety. Avoid I Pods, DS', things like that. They can be stolen in the crowd. A book is a good idea to pass the time.

Im Going Alone?

If it is in the gardens luckily they tend to limit numbers, so if you are alone, I would talk to those around you and make friends with them. They can then hold your spot (and you theirs) if you need to pop off. Also if you are friendly with the people enxt to you it helps when trying to get autographs, they wont think you are being rude or anything and you can help each other out. And collectively block anyone trying to push in!

What else?

Check, check, and check again the weather! Cover yourself for all eventualities if there is any chance of cold weather or rain. Standing still it can get quite uncomfortable if you have the wrong clothing!

Also!

Make sure to have several marker pens, sharpies being a good choice. Someone may take off with one so have spares to hand! Sometimes one or two photos everyone can sign is better than one for everyone, it can get too fiddly trying to find the right ones! Also have an autograph book or blank card, random people will show up! Secure your camera around your wrist if you have one, its easy to drop things in the madness. Try to have a small bag, you might regret a large rucksack when it begins to get crowded and squashed!

And?

Stay calm. Enjoy the day. Don’t get too stressed or angry. Remember you are not guaranteed to meet anyone, and treat anything you get as a bonus. People will 100% try to push in, lean on you, treat your shoulder like a camera stand, put their things on yours, elbow you in the back. All of those things. Too many people assume they will meet all the stars and get angry If they don’t. And if you do get too stressed out youll hate the experience. Try to be zen and think of it as a story you can tell: “Well one time I spent 12 hours waiting to meet Daniel Radcliffe and I got squashed and pushed…but here is the photo of me and him!”

Finally:

Good Luck!

I also been to a few Harry potter premiers, witch is always held in the garden In LQ.

I think that new new movie is going to be crazy, cos it,s early 2 years since the last 1, If u are going to that premier 4 the first seconde six time, make sure that u bring a nuff clothes w u, cos u,ll be seating or standing around 4 a long time.

2 bring a nuff food n drink fm home if u can, or get sme on yr way.
3 Always come with friends just n case if there,s is sme kind of dissagrement in yr area.
4 Always take sme water proof clothes w u, even if u dnt wear it.
5 If u have any pics, poster, banners,or auto book w u, make sure that u have it readdy 4 them to sign other wise it could be a bad day 4 u, n with thousands screaming at the same person, it,s gonna be 1 mad prem.
6 If u dnt live in london, kent, or serounding area, proberly try to get there around 6 or 7 in the mrning just in case.
7 Looking 4ward to meet the stars of Harry potter very much,

Too True, I was bruised and sore for a week after the sweeney todd premiere, some weirdo behind me thought I was a statue to lean on! I kept knocking his arm off my shoulder but he kept putting it back..at one point I thought I was going to kill him lol.

The pushing is the worse tho, I went crazy and just started screaming 'STOP PUSHING..YOUR NOT GOING TO GET ANY NEARER!' lol
Good Times :)

And then after the celebs went inside the cinema a girl behind me started sobbing because she didn't get Johnny's autograph..is seeing him in person not enough for her?
