Hi!

So, I want to move to London from Nottingham, and was wondering what the biggest pieces of general advice are? I'm sure things have been said in other threads, but... with the trawling through... and the lazy...

OK, mainly, I want to know if I should find a job or somewhere to live first.

Also, is it a good idea to come with some savings so I can live for a while without the stress of HAVING to have an income? Cos I have none... I just need to leave right now, and London is SO appealing.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me!

Mexes.

Hi,

It's not so easy to get a job in London these days, however it depends what you are looking for.
Definitely try to have some money on the side; you will need a deposit for you accommodation.
London is a very big city and commuting is a big time loss therefore it is best to know where you will be working and then decide where you will live.

I can advice you if you want to go clubbing for cheap (jump the queue or enter for free - entrance fees are usualy £15/20)

Good luck

Hi,

Having drawn a conclusion from what you have stated in your message, I can easily say that nothing can detract your determination to reach London and live there for a while. I could only advise to be wary of spending your saving, if you have, in the early times of your stayin in London.

On the other hand, however all the forum contributers have said to you about hard life conditions and difficulties in getting a job, I beleive that if you believe yourself and have self confidence enough to push yourself, you would absolutely get a job enough to live there.

Sincelery.
P.S: Please inform us ahead of your moving time if you still think of living there.

Looking for work and looking for a place to live are both tricky tasks...I'd recommended doing them both at the same time. What kind of thing are you after?
If you're looking for work, a great website for job vacancies is the Uni of London's Careers Group site. I've got a couple of jobs through there.
For housing, people often use gumtree.. but do be very careful, there are a lot of conmen and dodgy estate agents out there!

Good luck with your search!
