Only 3.5 weeks to go! Seeing as we're in December we can now officially get excited about Christmas Santa Hat Smile

Everyone got their shopping done?

More importantly when is everyone else putting up their tree/decorations?

I think we might need to have a "show us your Christmas tree" thread Santa Hat

We've bought one present so far, for the other half's parents.

Money's so damn tight I'm not sure who else is going to get one :(

My tree tends to look pretty awesome though, but since we bought the hedgehog this year... I don't quite know where we're going to put it lol

NOT GOT MY TREE UP YET BUT WILL THIS WEEKEND!
We shopped around a lot to get good prices and are only buying for kids and our parents. The rest we have agreed to only buy tree prezzies up to a Fiver, and the funnier the better.

It cuts the bill in half and is such a laugh on christmas day!

The other thing we do is to make a christmas cake for the family, that is four six inch square cakes put together but iced as individual cakes each has a christmas scene on top appropriate for the household its going to. The person who has us all fou christmas has the entire cake for the two days and every one take home their section after. Its a great way to cut the cost and waste.

Nope our tree isn't up yet.
Will probably put it up this weekend, always do it after the 2nd as that the anniversary of Daisy funeral & it wouldn't feel right somehow putting up the xmas tree before that.
My brother & sister have put their trees up.

My sister has a black tree this year.... she gets a new one each year.

My little brother sent me a text with a pic of his xmas tree & its lovely.
Its his first tree.... in his first house..... his first xmas as a husband.... and they have their first baby on the way..... pretty awesome year its been for him & my SIL.

What colour scheme are you all going for on your trees?

Mine is purple & silver this year.

Shopping..... i haven't really thought about shopping to be honest.
Got a few bits through out the year through wins & bargains i've seen.
I really must do some xmas shopping..... but i hate shopping with a passion. Just don't see how anyone finds it enjoyable.... even online shopping is boring.

For cheap presents you should have a look on mse. People come up with some brilliant ideas for presents that are cheap but nice.

You could sign up for a few things that would help at xmas time... bit late now but can help for next year.

Shopandscan - You scan your shopping & get £1 a week for transmitting it. After a year or so on that we got offer a text thingy with them where you text in snacks you buy whilst out.... you can earn up to £5 a week with that. They have other things but you have to wait to be asked.
With shopandscan you register your interest & when they have a space they email you. We've made about £200 this year which we're using for the next sale.

Surveys - depending on age, where you live, occupation etc you can get lots of surveys. Theres quite a lot of surveys companys where you can claim your points in paypal, cheque or vouchers.
Again do these through out the year & by xmas you could have £100 or so of voucher.

Mystery shopper - Can be a hassle but you sometimes get freebies out of it, like a free pizza, a free bet etc. Do these through out the year & save up the cash & you could have a nice sum of money in time for xmas.

Last tip........... if you have time enter some comps ;)
If you put a bit of effort into it you will win some nice prizes. When i enter comps i don't just think about me & the kids... i think about family members, friends, teachers presents etc.

Do some of these through out the year & by next xmas you'll have enough voucher/pressies/cash to have a nicer xmas.
