Hi Jacqs, Happy new year

I had what the doctors thought was a miscarriage so they gave me a d&c. I continued bleeding & having left sided pain so asked to be seen again. Anyway long story but i went to a&e in the early hours of the 23rd as i was in so much pain, heavy bleeding, nausea, shaking, dizzy etc. Gyne doc didn't want to see me but thanks to the triage nurse arguing with her, agreed to come down to a&e to see me. She said i was fine etc but agreed to admit me as the strong painkillers they gave me in my arm didn't help much.
Admitted to the ward, taken for a scan at 11am to be told it was ectopic & i had huge blood clots inside & internal bleeding. I was taken to theatre & lost my left tube

I received terrible treatment through out all my care from my 1st scan at 5wks til i was discharged on xmas day evening.

It was a 'suspected' ectopic at 5wks but they never took it seriously & decided to do a d&c & no follow up. Had they done a follow up i'd still have my tube. Had they given me medication when they first suspected it was ectopic, i'd still have my tube.

I can't have kids naturall anymore as my right ovary doesn't work. If i wanted more kids it'd have to be via ivf which i can't afford :(

I am going to be writing a complaint about the numerous nurses, doctors & consultants i saw in those few weeks.
Useless the lot of them.

This morning was obviously too cold for my bike. The key snapped in half in the fuel cap so now have to wait for a new lock. Nice. So much for being super careful with money.

Thinking bout it today's been a little disappointing. Our drummer in our band us moving to Wales... And found out that I can't distribute a free comic at this sci fi event. Was banking on that.

That is totally unacceptable you poor thing. There are no words of comfort to offer that will ease your physical and emotional state. You must make the complaint formal and as soon as you feel upto it.. At the very least you must insist that they fund any future IVF costs. Don't let them blind you with medical terms as am excuse for not detecting the ectopic pregnancy. I worked in the NHS for years in Management, if you get stuck with the complaint send me a PM and I will try and help you with it.

I do hope you heal soon kiddo, you have been through enough already! I hope 2010 is a healthier and happier year for you.

Get some metatone its a very good tonic and will boots your B vit levels. xx

:( Your having a lousy day.
We have a toyota previa so one of the doors is a slide type of door. When its this type of weather only the driver door opens :-?
Its not great trying to get 4 kids & my own lardy ass all through the one door & all into our seats

I don't know if this is your thing but have you considered signing up to some focus groups.
http://www.focus4people.com/index.asp (register 1st to view the current focus groups)
My husband has done a few focus groups before.
You get paid in cash & most last about 1-2 hours max.
He got £40 for an hour telling someone what he thought of their site as they watched over him as he navigated their site etc.
My husband & son did one for kids with asthma, think that was for something like £50 & we gave that to our son as it went on for longer than we expected.

Although its not regular work & you do need to check the sites, the odd £50 could come in very handy.

Thanks so much.

I've started doing a time line type thing just to get it down on paper before i forget things. My consultant was away over xmas & emailed me last week & has asked to see me tomorrow. Even though they missed the ectopic for weeks, my treatment in a&e was really poor. No scan, no blood tests done & i was really made to feel like i was bothering the doctor. I even apologised for being in a&e. They made me feel like i was a hypercondriac. Sorry tmi coming .... she looked at my pad & said is that all your bleeding.... it was a soaked pad. What kinda bleeding did i have to experience for her to take me seriously.

Its very angry that there was so many opportunties for them to stop me going through this. I'm well aware of my own body & i kept asking the various doctors over the weeks if they were sure it wasn't ectopic. I bought the subject up at least 6 times. I wish i had maybe gone to another hospital but.... you tend to put your trust in doctors.

If i need any help i will definately contact you, thanks so much
:)

Its a very scary time and when you are in the condition you are emotional and hormonal, you have to trust the medical staff to a point but that kind of poor practice is just pants. WHy should you have to attend several hospitals to get the care you are entitled to!

Make sure your consultant knows just what happened to you because it reflects upon their department too. They have to cope with the fall out. The consultant will be disgusted and may even take things up for you. Take in thge time line you ahve so far and if possible take another person with you to make notes. Its easy to forget what they tell you when you feel ill.

Good luck and I hope things get better for you hun xx

Thanks Jacqs. I'm taking my husband or my mum with me tomorrow.
My consultant was the person who scanned me 3 times before i had the d&c & he was the one who originally thought it might be ectopic. Then changed his mind despite not being able to see my tube, because he didn't see any free fluid or something like that.
