Went to see this last night at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith.

It... was... awesome!! AND it had me screaming like a little girl. The people behind us left halfway through cause they got scared.

I highly recommend it if you like horror films or like being scared. Because you WILL get scared. It's written by Andy Nyman (Dead Set, Severance, Derren Brown shows) and Jeremy Dyson (League of Gentlemen).

In fact, I've just been told my other half and I are going again when our friends come down to London to visit, on the 20th. I'm very excited, and I KNOW I will scream again.

ONE THING... If you are planning on going to see this DON'T READ ANY SPOILERS/REVIEWS/JUST DON'T LOOK UP ANYTHING!!!!

If any of you see it and want to talk about it put SPOILER in your post. Though you guys and your self control (reading Alice in Wonderland stuff before seeing the film and things - tut) you'll prob read the spoilers Wink

It's for over 16s only and do not go if you are of 'nervous disposition'.

Also I had the luck last night of being there for the press night. I just had aims of meeting Andy Nyman, who I'm a fan of. But I found myself in a room with Bill Bailey, Charlie Brooker, Graham Linehan, Alexander Armstrong, Ben Miller, David Baddiel, Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Mathew Horne, Ed Byrne... and more. Was a great night for a comedy fanboy.

Lol is a bit of a boast ;)

Honestly, I'm the kind of person who'd investigate a noise in the middle of the night. I just really got into this and it makes you jump like hell.

EVERY review I've read has said how scary this play is. But still fun!!

I hope you enjoy it!!

Lol if I say fangirl I sound like a groupie. So I prefer the term fanboy cause it sounds geekier.

I don't know how they did it - it's exactly what I was thinking before I went. I thought 'you can't get THAT scared, because it's all being acted infront of you, etc'. But, and I was haviing this convo with Andy Nyman after, live, it just ADDS something - it's an odd experience. You just get involved. They've done up the theatre and the entrances and things, its all dimly lit when you go in. They involve the audience and they have SUPER LOUD sounds and noises that surround you. The whole atmosphere sucks you in.

It just works so well. Nyman's just said that apparantly Ghost Stories has broken all box office records at The Lyric, so hopefully that means they'll take the show on tour or something.

Well no. It makes you sound like a boy. Lol.

Oo I would hate that! I don't like being scared. Went on an Alien ride in Florida when I was 14 and I almost cried when I came out! The noises and the movements freaked me out. Too real. Didn't help that my brother touched my leg to try and scare me...!

Would rather sound like a boy than a retarded groupie.

Fangirm gives me images of teenage girls screaming over Twilight ;)

Good one Ellie :) I was about 3 or 4 rows back. Is only a little theatre, as theatres go. Hope you enjoy it!! I got a thing for Mr Nyman at the moment....

Actually I'll be there on Monday myself, not at the 8pm showing but there's an 'In Conversation With' thing with the writers at 6pm I'm going to :)

Just don't read any spoilers or reviews!! Gonin without knowing anything - it's what Nyman's been requesting of people :)
