Not exactly the pleasentest forum topic to start with - but I witnessed a really horrific accident outside holborn tube station yesterday afternoon where a driver crushed a woman bewteen his car and the railings.

I would love to know that the woman (and the driver too - he looked in a bad way) are all right - I wished I could have done more at the time.

Thankfully an ambulance was just around the corner - and I hope everyone was okay.

If anyone knows any more then me (I left shortly after the ambulance came) I would really be gratefull - I've been worrying about them every since. My heart goes out to the poor woman who was hurtxxxx

Sounds horrible.

I might hear something about it at work on Monday, so I'll let you know if I find anything out about the people involved.

I hope everyone's ok.

It was awful wasn't it - I went forward and was standing beside the girl - but I couldn't do anything...the man who was talking to her was great and did just the right thing - the man in the car looked really shocked - maybe a heart attack.

Where did you read about it?

Her legs looked in terrible shape. How did the driver not kill more people? I didn't see the accident actually happen - I was over the other side of the road and the girl screaming made me turn.

The amazing thing was how everyone behaved - just desperate to help! The papers would have you believe that people's first reaction is to get out their mobile phones to video it.

I was also so grateful how close an ambulance was - it was there in about 20 seconds - must have been around the corner.

I was also there, very near to the car when it happened, and saw a girl climbing out from between the car and the railing, she was ok, but still I was hearing the screams of another woman. Suddenly a guy who was trying to push the car back, shouted at me to knock to the glass window to call the driver to let the accelerator go. When I peeped in the wind screen, the Driver face was unexplainable, either he had an heart attack before accident or was in a shock. His eyes were boiling out like we see in cartoons, and I thought it was his last moments. After 30 seconds his body relaxed and then we pushed the car back. I try to go to the other side to have a look at the girl, but I saw a NHS guy with a bag comming and asking for the way. Luckily he was so near.

When I came back from the British Museum, I saw the fire deppartment vehicles have cut the doors out of the Mercedes and there was a body lying on the road. I figured out the driver was dead. I had no news of the girl whose leg was really crushed. I wish her quick recovery.
Thanks to the blog I finally has the news that the girl might be Ok.

The details give. Here are acceptable AIL, there are no names given or anything offensive said bout any of the parties involved, including nobody pointing the finger of blame. You'd get more details from a newspaper reporting the accident. Quite clearly those who were there have been upset by this and need to get it out, and they are doing it pretty respectfully in my opinion.

As it happens I haven't come across anything on it at work.

Agreed krunchie, it was more of a request to future posters than a telling off to those who've already posted.
