Hello all
I am coming to London next Thursday with my family (other half, and two kids - aged 14 and 16) we are off to see Harry Hill - mucho excited!! We will probaby arrive about 10-30.

So - as I am coming from OOOP North we are planning on driving down and parking on the outskirts at a tube station and tubing it around - so my questions are as follows.....

1) am I better off parking at Stanmore station and buying underground tickets for zones 1-6 OR parking at Swiss cottage and paying a tenner but getting underground tickets for zones 1-4/5?? Am I going to get caught up in more traffic if I come to swiss cottage?

2) Are family travel cards still available (Im sure this is what I bought last time I came?) is there anyway of getting cheaper tickets at such late availability - ie oyster cards - and are they worth it?

Plus - if anyone has any info on what sort of time I should start to queue for Harry Hill to be pretty sure I get a seat I would be VERY grateful!!!

Thanks in advance - any details at all would be great - I have searched and searched for info - but it is SO confusing!!!

Linds xx

Hi there, welcome to the site

I'd recommend parking up at Stanmore rather than driving into Swiss Cottage, it might not look far on a map but that journey can take years off your life from stress at peak times!

I assume you're going to BBC Television Centre at White City? From Stanmore that takes around 50 minutes - you change from the Jubilee line to the central at Bond Street.

You'll need zones 1 - 6. so: (brackets show peak time travel price)

Adult Zones 1-6 (£14.80) £7.50
Child Zones 1-6 (£7.40) £2.00

As you're arriving at 10:30 off peak will be fine :)

They don't seem to offer family travel cards any more. You could get free travel for the kids but you'd need to get an Oyster photocard made up before you travel. Group tickets are only available for groups of 10 or more these days, nice one TFL most people travel around in groups of 10 or more!!

For the car park (it's an NCP):

Daily tariffs
Sat-Sun & Bank Hoildays £ 1.00
1 Day £ 3.20
2 Days £ 6.40
3 Days £ 9.60
4 Days £ 12.80
5 Days £ 16.00

Opening hours
Monday-Sunday :24 Hours

Facilities & services
Number of spaces : 450
Disabled bays : 12
Maximum height : 1.9m
Passenger lifts : 0
CCTV : Y
Accepts credit cards : Y

So you're looking at £22.20 for the travel cards and parking, not too bad for London really!

Hope that's of some use.

Let us know what Harry Hill's like :)

For Harry Hill, I'd queue up about an hour before the door open time. It'll say what time the doors open and what time the show starts on your ticket.

Harry Hill shows get busy and full of people. I've been to a couple and seen people turned away.

Hi all
THanks so much for that - can't believe that Stanmore parking - I pay more to go into Scunthorpe town centre to park all day - and it is SO not worth it :-) BARGAIN!!

I did wonder about the family travel cards - since I coudn't find any info thought they may have got rid - aw well - still not too bad to get around and about fairly easily!!

Aly - yeah - I have that programmed into my phone now - just in case Stanmore is full - very handy - I saw it on a previous post of yours!!

Thank you all for the info - it is very daunting the thought of coming down - although to be honest when I have done it all before it is less daunting once you get there - less confusing - hope it is like that this time with two teenagers!!!

My two are into Manga and all that sort of stuff - emo and the like - is there anywhere that you would say we shouldn't miss?? We are hoping to go to Tokyotoyshop in the trocadero - but is there anywhere ese if we have the time?

Cheers xxxx

Definitely Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue. Toys and things upstairs, comics and graphic novels downstairs.

I'd say Camden, the markets are full of Manga things and 'emo' things. But might be too much to cram in.
