It's interesting how big St Patrick's Day is in England. I think everyone just gets caught up in the (stereo)typically Irish friendliness and enjoys a pint of Guinness.
I also kind of feel like a bit of a fraud celebrating the national day of another country but St Patrick's feels a bit different.
I think St George's day struggles a bit partly because of the racist undertones that now surround the use of the St George's cross flag (it's not something I'd wear comfortably) and partly because the English just aren't as fun-loving as the Irish (purely my opinion, I've met lots of Irish people and more English people and on-balance the Irish are jollier, not scientific, just opinion ;))
