i am a 26 years old woman from NewYork, and i am visiting London for a week in the end of May.

Your best bet is to get a hostel/hotel. I wouldn't recommend staying with anyone you 'meet' on a website.

Hostels are great places to meet other like minded people who you'll probably able to tour the city with.
