I've been to Southbank hundrets of times, but only lately have I noticed the Topolski Century Gallery under one of the railway arches (although it's been there since 1984!). It's absolutely mesmerazing! It's a gallery of a Polish artist Feliks Topolski (1907-1989), who came to London in 1935 and fell in love with the city so much, that he decided to stay. Throughout his life he was travelling intesively around the world all the time sketching. He witnessed the most important events of the 20th century and met the most prominent figures, depiction of which can be seen now in the gallery. It's just incredible that one person witnesses almost everything that happened in the 20th century!! The exhibition can be bewildering at first because of its scale and the details captured in every painting, learning about all the stories behind each mural, I've been left amazed by the fact that one peson managed to experience it all!!
