Would you go for casual, rugged or formal look on your first date?

Surely that depends on where and when your date is. If its for the cinema I'd go smart/casual, if you're going to a nice restaurant probably something slightly more dressed up. Never really casual though as it just shows a lack of effort for the other person.

depends on your style, if that's your comfort zone and you wear it all the time, well it's up to you till when can you carry on but try to be different at times. don't limit yourself to some points. you can be hip too since you are young and manageable with a personality. it also depends on the personality and character of your date :)

It depends on your audience too. If this is a blind date it will be hard to know and will be based more on your venue. However if you know your audience and what they like then you go based on this. I liked to be mates with girls before dating them and I quickly learned all their likes and dislikes. I am not saying that that is the ideal way to go, it is just a way to go.

I would go for smart casual and surely, it depends on the venue, the type of girl you are going out with. Just be yourself. It comes with great attitude and sense.
