Work outside london, but want to live in london - any help appreciated.

Hey. At the moment i work in Gerrards Cross and live in Deptford - i like the area but the drive is 1hour 15mins in non rush hour, and rush hour can take up to 2.5 hours!! (i work 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am, so the drive kills me).

I'm looking to find somewhere that doesn't take too long to get in central by tube, or back after a night out. Also somewhere that even in rush hour it takes maximum 1hour to drive.

Any ideas??

Don't really know Gerrards Cross, but isn't it on a good overland service to Marylebone? If so, why don't you live somewhere that's on one of the stops on that overland service or else on the Bakerloo line so you go into Marylebone and get the train to work from there? Queens Park is nice and not too expensive for example as well as being good for transport links to Marylebone and elsewhere..
