Hi

I went to Morningside School in Hackney as a child and recall stories about a ghost in the loft. My childen, who are now adults, also went to Morningside school and they too were told about a ghost in the loft. We are now trying to ascertain where this story started and what the history of it is. Does anyone know anything about this story?

Thanks

Seeing as it's the same school and the same story, I imagine it gets told to every student who passes through the doors. Every school, theatre, museum, old building has one rumour or another of a ghost.

I think it's too specific to get any more details on here. Like I said, every old building has a ghost story. Maybe look the school up and see if there are any Facebook groups, more people who went to the school will know of the ghost stories.

My old school was apparently haunted too. Certainly some creepy areas in the building(s) but I didn't see no ghost!

hiya Vista. I also went to Morningside school. I don't recall any such ghost stories while I was there but your post reminded me of something I was very recently told about the school. A friend told me that a past head mistress had commuted suicide at the school. Apparently she had thrown herself from a top floor window. I really don't know how true this is but if it is the case, you can see where the ghost stories are coming from.

Hey dasbo, Welcome to the forum and thanks for your input!

Any idea how long ago the Head teacher had supposedly committed suicide? Or do you think it was just one of those timeless urban legends?
