Two Clubs to Avoid

Hi All,

It's not often I post something negative but a recent experience with two "members club" run by the same group has left me with a bad taste.

Over the past two weeks, I've received emails from Mo*vida and Club-Silver, neither of which I asked to received and neither of which I am a member, inviting me to events including Tuesday's "industry launch party".

I thought it could be a nice way to end the "Miami Vice" screening I was attending with a mixed group of friends so emailed the organiser saying I'd like to come to which he said :-

"if the group has more men than women, you will not be allowed entry".

Nice I thought, so emailed the guy saying I didn't like their heavy handed comments as it doesn't make me feel welcome or make me want to attend. What did get? I got the reply :-

"Don't come then".

Just the kind of customer service I'd give if I were running a club and not spam non-members with invites especially when trying to gain a reputation.

So I'd recommend avoiding these two venues until they get someone in who knows how to deal with customers and not be arrogant or have attitude.

Thanks for that. Nothing is more irritating than the rudeness and attitude you get from some clubs and bars. We spend a fortune in these places and get treated like sh!t.

In this thread we should start a list of all the clubs and bars that demonstrate loathsome behaviours and should be avoided as a consequence.

My 3 are
Pool Bar - Shoreditch.
Lab - Soho
Renaissance at the Cross - Kings Cross

The saga with Mo*vida continues with the following email being received :-

"Marina, does this guy winge for a living?

I couldn't care less. If he doesn't want to pay the min spend on dinner and
does want to come in mixed groups, as already told is venue policy then what
on earth is he still harping on about.

FYI him 'mention' was a 5 line waffle about how he doesn't approve of venue
policy.

He also clearly did not understand the difference in club tables vs
restaurant table.

Either way it's irrelevant. Please ask him to stop wasting you and my time.

Dan Kapp who works at Movida is known for being unprofessional and rude.

Everyone who works in the industry knows what a bolshy attitude he has especially in his email and phone manner. He sees himself as a PR guru but 90% of his job entails sending out mass emails and answering phone calls.
