Not quite sure what the smilie angel has to do with this but I thought it could get the mind focused on the most heavenly London pint.

Anyway. I like lager. I REALLY like it (there, I've said) it and my favourite place to get a pint is the Approach Tavern just between Victoria Park and Bethnal Green.

Does anybody know a good place central for me? Please don't say the Montague Pike on Charing Cross Road - bad memories.

Yours,

Parched on Oxford Street.

It's hard to say where I've had the best pint. I generally try to drink local beers when in pubs in town, a drop of London pride always goes down well (insert your own joke here).

I used to live around the corner from the Ordnance arms in St John's Wood and always loved the beers in there, it was mostly cloudy European lagers that made me sleep well into the next day.

Yeah, I've got some great ones for around the outskirts but not so many for central.

I've always enjoyed a pint at the Corner Store south of Covent Garden; great venue with loads of chairs attached to the wall. Sounds weird but you'll see what I mean if you ever go.

I also like The Salisbury on St. Martin's Lane - good after a show.

And always seem to end up in the Essex Serpent for some reason on a night out - no idea why. It's a tiny pub between Leicester Square and Covent Garden.

I know it's not central but there a really fantastic drinkers pub in Northfields called The Plough - there are loads of decent ales on tap and plenty of ciders too - plus there's just always a great atmosphere there. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

(That said, I haven't been there for a couple of years so fingers crossed it's still as good and hasn't been taken over by a Hungry Horse or something.)

Speaking of delicious pints..and don't laugh... does anyone know if there is anywhere that will serve Snakebite & Blacks? I loved it whilst a student, but think it's gone a bit underground and so i never dare ask for it when out with 'decent' people nowadays!!

Whooaa...a wild one!

They don't serve snakebite in my hometown anymore as it causes too many fights. (That probably says more about my hometown than it does about the incendiary properties of snakebite.) They won't even serve half a pint of cider in a pint glass incase you top it up with beer.

Couldn't comment on whether you can still get it in London though - never asked. I'm too busy drinking bellinis, obviously! :)

Could you get a pint of lager, drink half, then buy a half a cider and top it up - you'd have to take your own blackcurrant though.

It's that kind of problem solving mind that the government is probably looking for, I'm wasted working at AIL.

Bingo! You've totally got it. I will have my snakebite after all. :drink:

But I've got an even bigger problem that I need help with:

You see, I live on an island and I've got a fox, a chicken, a bag of grain and a small boat...!
