Where to live in South/Southwest London/Surrey?

Hi,

I'll be working soon in Epsom and would like to be near one of the major train lines heading to Epsom (rather than Epsom Down) station. I think this means I want to be on the southbound line from Waterloo or Victoria (routes listed below). Which of the areas near to any of these stations would people recommend?

I'm in my early twenties and would like to be around other young people, near decent pubs/bars, relatively easy access by public transport to other entertainment and be able to get to good clubs (think Fabric/Matter, rather than Oceana/Tiger) without getting stuck on the other side of town at 5 in the morning.

Cheers

Waterloo - Vauxhall - Clapham Junction - Earlsfield - Wimbledon - Raynes Park - Worcester park - Stoneleigh - Ewell East - Epsom

Victoria - Clapham junction - Balham - Mitcham Junction - Hackbridge - Carshalton - Sutton - Cheam - Ewell East - Epsom

You sound like a Sutton kind of guy. Though there are night buses that go to Wimbledon from central and should you be able for afford to live there, I'd say Wimbledon area is good. I prefer it to Sutton by far.

Yeah, other people have recommended Wimbledon too. Could you take a stab at the prices for a room in Sutton and Wembley? I'm used to paying about £250-300pcm with bills (and prepared to be shocked).

Wembley? I assume you mean Wimbledon? Sutton would be cheaper. A studio flat would be bout £600 I reckon. In Wimb, more like £800. You'd get a houseshare for around £400. This is me guessing btw.

I'd agree with Wimbledon - lovely area. Clapham Junction is also great for someone in their 20s as is Balham and Earlsfield (especially as it tends to be a bit better value for money).

Good luck!
