They're London based and have been operating for over 30 years.

Hi all,

In England, we use different terms to describe childcare services, than those used in some other countries, so first some definitions:

Babysitter - Provides EVENING childcare at your own home. Only for your family.

Childminder - Provides DAYTIME childcare at their home. Cares for children from multiple families at the same time.
Childminders are regulated by OFSTED

Nanny - Provides DAYTIME childcare at your own home. Only works for your family. Can occasionally get a Nanny Share, where you combine with another family.

Nursery - Provides DAYTIME childcare at a commercial premises. Nurseries are regulated by OFSTED

So to take the question itself now:

Paulasol, you are not looking for a babysitter, but instead either a Childminder or Nanny depending on if you want your daughter cared for at your own home (Nanny) or at someone elses home (Childminder).

To find a nanny, try searching for websites which provide NannyJob(s). You can also use agencies, who you will find listed in the YellowPages.

To find a Childminder, you can start your hunt from abroad by searching ChildcareLink.gov.uk
Once you are living in London, contact the local council for a list of Registered Childminders in you area who have vacancies for a 1 year old child.

Finding A Babysitter: Finding babysitters can be tricky. There are some national agencies, though you may prefer a more personal touch! Best method is word-of-mouth, ask other parents. Also look on Search Engines using keyword Babysitter +London
Local shops sometimes also have small classified advertising.

Hope that helps anyone looking for childcare, be it daycare or evening in London area.

Nick, Qualified and Experienced Nanny.

Call me old fashioned if you like, but I believe that the only job that you should be doing with a 1 year old baby is caring for that babies needs full time. Babies need nurturing and the chance to develop a firm bonding with a primary carer. Preferably the mother or father.

Hi there, have you considered hiring a nanny. Nannies are qualified, trained and CRB checked to look after children. So it is always better to leave small children with a nanny rather than a babysitter. Since you are looking for affordable and in-expensive childcare, maybe you could get into a Nanny Share.co.uk I am currently sharing a nanny with a family that lives close by and the arrangement is working out well. We are able to afford a good and experienced nanny and that give us a great peace of mind. Hope this helps.
