Hello everyone, first post ever!
Right, moving to London with a friend around November/December time and all of our friends have different ideas of where we should look so thought I'd put it to an unbiased jury
We are thinking of spending something along the lines of £1,000 in rent monthly (not that we'd complain if it was cheaper)and possibly a not-too-grim area, with easy access to shops and transport...maybe a couple of nice bars/restaurants, etc. We are not VERY demanding: honest!
Any suggestions will be much appreciated!
Cheers! Wink

Damon the brave
Hiya,

I just made a comment on someone's blog that was asking where's a good place to live... and I'd make the same recommendation to you.
Clapham is a really nice place to live - it's got it's own kind of community. It's got great bars and restaurants and commuting in central London is pretty hassle free.

As far as prices go, it's quite fashionable so it can be fairly pricey - but that's the same as anywhere - it depends what you're after really. You'll definitely be able to find somewhere in or around the area for £1k per month.

This site's got details of what near the various tube/ rail stations to give you an idea.

Hope this helps.

Clapham is a great place to live, other areas that you might want to consider living in your search:

There are also some really cool areas in the east end

Good luck with your search!

Thank you for the suggestions guys!
One last thing: I know these areas are serviced quite well from the transport point of view, but was wondering if there are any big supermarkets nearby?
