Sales of Flowers go through the roof, you can’t buy a box of Milk Tray for love or money, and it’s the one time of the year people go to France other than to stock up on cheap plonk for the Christmas festivities. Yes, that’s right, it’s nearly Valentines Day, but it’s just another excuse for a party at Club 414 to us at SWAMP central. As a result, we are very proud to present SWAMP - Blind Date Night, a night consisting of nothing but Male and Female back to back sets. Can you feel the Love?
Our first pairing are two of London’s fastest rising Hard Dance DJs.
Nicki S should need little introduction. Having wowed clubbers all over the UK, the Innovate resident is on the fast track to DJ superstardom. Chuffed doesn’t quite convey how happy we are that she is playing for us, but even our enthusiasm is dwarfed by that of her back to back partner for the night, Ben Bennett. Having impressed us at our return party back in October with an Electro set, we just had to get Puzzle Project resident Ben back down to SWAMP. To say he is chomping at the bit to get behind the decks with Nicki S would be an understatement!
Expect a full on Hard Dance set from these two
With a name like Elvis, it’s difficult not to expect the best. A worthy name sake if ever there was one, this Elvis may even one day reclaim his rightful mantle as The King. After all, being offered a residency at Zoology after just one gig is no mean feat, and he has not looked back since. Last seen working for giant that is Frantic, and with recent releases with Digital Kid to his name, there is only one King, and his surname isn’t Presley!
Elvis’ blind date for the evening will be Nicky D, a DJ who has quickly impressed many with her energetic style and seamless mixing. If you like your Hard NRG then these two will be worth the entrance fee alone! A marriage made in heaven? We think so!
If you like your music a bit more uplifting, then have we got the pairing for you! Hailing from East Grinstead comes none other than Mat Lock. With some huge gigs in 2006, more of the same coming up in 2007 and recent dabbles in the studio sounding rather mint, this is one DJ going places. Known for his ultra uplifting style of Trance it was a tough challenge finding someone we thought could match his self styled “fluffiness”. In the end we decided to pair Mat Lock with a DJ who is no stranger to the 414. Holding a residency at Trance night Spangualtion, Pandora-SK was the only lady we knew who could match Mat Lock for pure quality trance. Love might be in the air, but your hands most definitely will be!
Ok so technically this next pairing is not strictly a blind date, but we can pretend as they are not married just yet! Markus Rich and fiancé La Twink may still be relative newcomers to the scene, but they have made a huge splash in that short space of time. For your pleasure they will be performing the ultimate 2 hour warm up set, laying down those funky techno grooves guaranteed to get anyone’s booty shaking! Feeling the love yet? These two certainly are!
And finally, after preliminary discussions about SWAMP residents Matt Church and DJ Zone performing a back to back drag set, (DJ Zone chickened out in the end) we had to have a change of plan. So instead we found one Little Miss Fox. A true party animal who always gives her all, she really doesn’t know the meaning of the word quiet, and it shows in her music. Versatile SWAMP resident DJ Mad Phil is the brave soul who will be sharing the DJ box with Little Miss Fox, and we think he will need all the luck he can get. In keeping with the true spirit of Blind Dates, we don’t quite know what to expect from these two, but then that’s half the fun!
So there you have it. 5 male DJs back to back with 5 female DJs. The condom machine in the 414 has just been restocked, the hotels are booked and the champagne is on ice. Will you be getting lucky? There is only one way to find out!
