Hello everyone,

This saturday I my great auntie is coming up to see me in Kensington for the afternoon and I need to think of thinks we can do?!!

She can't walk very well, so minimum movement would be great, but she's a great east ender with great banter and I want her to have a nice afternoon in London.

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Cheers everyone.

Hi Jenny,

Why not look into hiring wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Our family have done it a couple of times for my Grandad. He loves whizzing off in them and it means it really opens up your options for where you can go, because then your aunty won't get as tired.
And most places are really good for wheelchair access now.

Take a look at this sheet on wheelchair and mobility hire in London:

And then some good ideas for accessible venues: click here

Other attractions with good mobility access in area include the V&A Museum and parts of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.

Also, you could maybe try just down the road at Harrods in Knightsbridge. I just gave them a call and they said that they were wheelchair accessible and you can also be supplied with a wheelchair for collection when you visit Harrods. If you're interested in this just call the main Harrods number 020 7730 1234 and they'll put you through to the correct department where you can book a chair... they were really helpful.

I hope this give you some ideas.

All the best,

AIL Staff

Tea at the Ritz is always a winner with older people.

Last minute offer a package for this, I don't think it's cheap though.

Hi Jenny,

I've actually got my nana over from Ireland at the end of the month, and she can walk but gets tired....the AIL idea was great about the wheelchairs, but I think my nana would take offence if I got her one..

So I'm going to take her for tea at the Wolseley..& a stroll around Fortum & Mason. Last time I brought her to St. James Park, & we had lunch there at 'Inn the Park', which is lovely..but that was during the summer.

I'm open to other suggestions too!

Also, if you check out this site's What's On section you can get a full list of everything you can do this Saturday:

There's quite a few Bus tours on there, might be worth thinking about.
