I was wondering if someone could help me regarding the new congestion charge extension.

On this map it says that the 'white' roads are 'uncharged roads'.

Is the A40 westway free?

I use the west cross route from shepherd bush to the A40 roundabout, then go off the roundabout onto wood lane.

I'm confused (doesn't take much lol)as to if i can use it or not. Happy

Yep, the West Way is uncharged as is the West Cross Route. It is pretty confusing and I bet they rely on this to get more payments in from people who aren't even entering the zone.

Thanks for replying :)

The thing is i thought it was free as the map shows the roundabout as white. Just to be on the safe side i emailed transport for london about this & this is the reply i got -

In regards to your first question about the A40 ring road, I can confirm that it does fall into the
Congestion Charging zone and you will be required to make a payment if you travel along this road.

The map is confusing as it should be free but when i emailed them just to be sure they've said no i would have to pay.

I don't want to be caught out & there information is confusing.

Hmmm, that's contrary to what I've heard about it.

It's also contrary to the information on their own site:

I think i shall email them again, maybe the person who replied to didn't know what they were talking about.

You'd think that the people working for transport for london would know their stuff.
