East London safeness

Hi,
I'm looking to move to the stratford area. I was just wondering how safe people thought it was around stratford/bethnal green/maryland? Don't mind it a bit dodgy just don't want to be terrfied of walking back to my flat at night!
Any opinions would be really helpful.

I think it depends who you ask. I know people who've been mugged in Bethnal Green outside there front doors (well actually just one person) and I know people who love living there saying it's very safe.

I think it depends on the kind of person you are and what you consider to be risky. If you're "streetwise" you'll no doubt be a lot safer than someone who isn't but then again that's not always the case.

The best thing to do is go and visit these areas, maybe stay in a B&B and see how you feel walking around at night and during the daytime.
