Anyone watch the coverage of the concert(s) yesterday? Did anyone go?

I was sceptical about it being a celebrity fest/waste of money/waste of time. But after watching it thought it was a whole lot worse than that.

How is going to help to have people who live in huge houses and drive 5 litre ferraris around telling us to recyle more? How is it raising awareness about carbon emissions to have a billion megawatt per hour light show allowing bands to promote their latest albums/songs.

What a bloody farce.

Mm... I can see your point. The money is going to a good cause though. Well... we hope...

Interesting that Diana's concert attracted 15 million viewers whilst Live Earth attracted 5 million.

That's a pretty good indicator about current public opinion on the issue.

I liked the way Simon Le Bon distanced himself from the cause whilst being interviewed by Radio 1's Edith Bowman. Can't remember exactly what he said but it was along the lines of "we're not here to show people how to solve the problem, we're here to entertain" - missing the point there Simo.

How lifeless did it all seem aswell? It was almost embarrassingly dull. I remember the LiveAid and Freddie Mercury Tribute concerts at Wembley, that's how you do it.

That's spot on. The energy used to power that concert probably offset my entire street's recycling for the year. Thanks to everyone involved.
(And I'm sure they probably all got there by rickshaw or ran. I'd be very surprised if there were any limo/ planes/ helicopters involved in transporting the celebs to the venue!)

Didn't realise the viewing figures were that bad, how embarrassing :emb:

So does that mean that more people wanted to watch Phil Mitchell get shot than want to save the planet?

Not good news, unless of course you can get Phil Mitchell to spearhead a new campaign to raise awareness,he could get a new career out of it, much like his brother Ross Kemp, it could be called something like

Recycle... or else
