Notting Hill Carnival

Hi, If you think it's one big free fun weekend I am guessing you probably don't live in the aera. You won't be having to put up with two days of noise, ****ed up revellers, knee deep fast food wrappings and beer cans or having said ****ed up revellers urinating against yor front door. True there are some local residents who enjoy it, those with balconies have a prime view; but there's plenty of us that evacuate every year. I for one would be very happy to see the carnival relocate to the centre of Notting Hill as the name suggests or re-name it The Ladbroke Grove or Kensal Rise Carnival.

I also hate the carnival. I saw it as a ruined weekend in the summer. You get precious little time to relax in London and the weekends are very important, especially in the summer months... this horrible street party cuts off huge sections of West London and used to really ruin my weekend.

I am lucky that I can afford to take of to the coast and put up in a hotel for three nights. They are many who can't, and it's wrong to assume that everyone who live in the aera welcomes the carnival. As you say most of West London is closed off so even going out for the day(s)is difficult. There's been a lot of talk about moving it to Hyde Park, but talk is cheap.....
