Good day:

My name is Jon, and I am over in the U.S. My wife and I are going to be in London for just over a week in early October and we are staying at the Thistle Kensington. We have tours lined up for much of the time, but would like ideas on things to do with our free time. We don't walk a lot, but wanted to see what was in the neighborhood of our hotel.

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated. We were thinking of a day at Harrods, but don't know how much walking is involved, and not sure how to get around easily.

Are buses easy to get on and off of? My wife walks with two canes so steps are tricky at times.

Thanks in advance for all your assistance.

Hi Jon,

You'll be fine getting around London without walking, between the buses/cabs/tubes/rickshaws you should have plenty of options. Given your wife's situation I'd probably recommend using the buses, the tubes have lots of escalators/stair cases. People are generally good at giving up seats on buses as well.

Kensington is a great part of the city - plenty to do and great access to everywhere. I'd set aside half a day to visit Harrods, it's not actually that interesting as an attraction but worth going to.

Hope that's of some use.
