I'm going to Proms in the Park tomorrow and am thinking of parking. I parked near Grosvenor Road last time on a Sunday which was free and about 10mins walk. Anyone know a decent place to park on a Saturday at around 4pm ?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Welcome to The Knowledge.

There are a couple of car parks very near to Hyde Park operated by Westminster Council on the MasterPark scheme.
Click here to see a map of the nearest parking:
www.westminster.gov.uk/transportandstreets/parking/masterpark

The two nearest are Park Lane and Marble Arch you can call them on:
020 7402 7259
The cost is £20 per day and they operate on a first come first served basis.

For additional parking information in the City of Westminster you can call the parking hotline (24hrs) on 0800 243 348.

Alternatively you could consider parking at an outlying Tube station eg Harrow-on-the-Hill, pay a cheaper parking rate and then commute in on the tube.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Thank you. I notice Park Lane, Knightsbridge and Marble Arch have an offer to park for £8.50 all day Saturday. However would you expect them to be full, say around 3pm ? Additionally do any of the streets around the area offer parking free after 1.30pm on Saturday say ? I work in the City and that is the case there.

I'm trying to avoid the tube only because I'm going with my wife who is 7 months pregnant and getting on the tube afterwards could be hard work !!

Hi Paul,
Some are metered until 1:30pm on a Saturday and others are until 6:30pm on a Saturday.

Around the Hyde Park Area:
- North of HP: Gloucester Terrace/ Bayswater: until 1:30pm
- South of HP: Knightsbridge: until 6:30pm
- East of HP: Marylebone/ Mayfair: until 6:30pm

So even if you find one that's metered until 6:30pm you can pay for the 3 hrs until 6:30.

If in doubt, there is a small plaque/ certificate on each meter that will give you the full details of when that area is checked until.

Best bet is Glou Terr/ Bayswater... might be a bit of a walk though.

All the best,

The £8.50 sounds good and ordinarily you wouldn't expect the car park too rammed but as there's a big event on I wouldn't rely on it as everybody else may be thinking the same as you. Sad

It´s obviously a bit late now for your purposes, but the following advice remains good for anyone else seeking similar information.

If you want to know where to park, or need directions or "live navigation" to anywhere in London, or need to know where something is, you can call "The Knowledge" on 0906 265 6565. You will be connected to a licensed London taxi driver who will give you the benefit of his/her Knowledge to help you out. (They won`t be in their cab when you call!).

"The Knowledge" is not the same as Allinlondon´s "The Knowledge" page. The call is a premium rate one and costs one pound per minute from a BT landline (calls from your mobile will vary depending on your network).

If you want to find out more about this, please go to www.theknowledge.com.

Hope you and everyone reading this get the best out of London!

Regards,

What a wonderful idea that the above post states.(The Knowledge) It would seem that you would have no excuse to be lost in London.
