Hurricane and global warming

It is expected that global warming will lead to more extreme weather events, such as more and worse hurricanes and higher surges up the Thames. Should we use hurricane Katrina to press George Bush and Tony Blair to address the issue of global warming?

Hi,

You'd think that Bush would take the severity of these storms as a warning of things to come if climate change isn't addressed.

However, what will actually happen is the US will forge on burning oil regardless of everyone else until there's none left, then it's over to the scientists to work out how to fix the problem.

No, scientists do NOT have the answer to global warming. They only have the explanation. One of the most profound statements ever made is "There are no technological fixes to our environmental problems - only social, economic and political ones." As for George Bush, we couldn't continue as he does without the tacit support of coutries like the UK.

You know you should not just blame George Bush and Tony Blair, but at the same time, blame the people who voted them into power. At the same time, face it, humans have not done good to this planet, only bad, and over the years, we all boasted being the most advanced race on the planet. Angry

But has being advanced killed the planet and in doing so, the planet too ? Sad

Anyone see the news last night saying that plants are actually adding to global warming?

IT'S not just farting cows and belching sheep that spew out methane. Living plants have been disgorging millions of tonnes of the potent greenhouse gas into the atmosphere every year - without anybody noticing.

Hello,

I am new here and from America. I am also an author of a new book ... Right To Work

I have a thought about global warming that I want to share. The earth was and is coming out of an ice age, right? So we would gradually warm. But look at what is happening in our oceans...its the water being warmed by all of the garbage in it. Research "dead zones" and see that it is greatly adding to the warming of the waters and it also eliminates all oxygen in the water...these are massive area's....maybe six of them now in our oceans..this we can control...natural warming we can not. Albeit our pollution of the air is a major problem too, we are taking steps to ease that, but not clean up our oceans.
