I agree, I got stung and when I tried to pay the next day they weren't interested. In fact, on Christmas Eve the telephone operater was just damn rude.
I appealed, and while they did at least acknowledge my arguements in a four page response rather than sending a standard letter, they countered everyone with a refusal to accept the point being made and a counter arguements which simply pointed out the flaws in the system.
I could have pushed the matter one level further but, much to my own disappointment, I decided to bite the bullet.
The system is flawed and is a disgrace but is typical of how Britain addresses a problem, raise prices and introduce levels of uncompromising, inefficient bureaucracy.
Why not fix a problem rather than just making it more complicated?
For once, I admire the French way of doing things and wonder if we could import some of their passion for refusing to give in and making a stand.
I'd love to see how long a congestion charging camera survived on the streets of Paris, one evening would be pushing it!
