Hi everybody!

I am relocating to London in early January and I am thinking about the best area where to live.

What would you suggest, considering that I am going to work close to Vauxhall?

I was thinking of Battersea and Clapham, but also somewhere closer to work. The problem is that I've heard that Vauxhall area is not one of the safest in London.

Help me! Wink

Hi there,

Whilst I'm not a big fan of the place I'd recommend you move to Clapham, it's only a short bus/tube journey from Vauxhall and is a much much nicer place to live. North of the river from Vauxhall starts to get expensive and the area immediately around and east of Vauxhall is pretty depressing.

Hope that helps,
Mogwai

Hi Mogwai,

Thanks for your answer.

Why aren't you a big fan of Clapham? What would you personally choose if you had to work in Vauxhall among all the possible options you can think of?

Hi antuantuan,

My wife lived in Clapham for a few years (before we lived together) so I spent quite a lot of time there. There's nothing wrong with it it's just not my kind of place. It's quite a "cool" place to live, loads of bars and restaurants and the high street gets very busy on a Fri/Sat night. If you're into that kind of lifestyle then it's great. There's also Clapham Common which is nice in the summer for picnics/jogging etc.

If I was working in Vauxhall I'd probably look at either Clapham or Battersea. Other than that if you don't mind 25 minutes on the tube you could have a look at Islington in North London, much nicer in my opinion but you'd really need to have a look to get an idea for yourself.
