Hi everybody, Waving

I'm planning to move to London in March and I'd like to stay there for about a year. I'm really looking forward to it! But I haven't organized very much yet. In fact, I still have a couple of basic questions and I'd be grateful if one of you could help me...

1.) First of all I was wondering about what can be planned in advence. Is it possible to find a job and a room on the internet?

2.) Secondly I'd like to know which kind of job I'm likely to get. I'm a student and actually have hardly any working experience. I was told that I might find a retail job. Is that true?

3.) How long do you think it will take me to find a job and a room?

4.) How much money will I need to take with me for the time before I find a job?

Thank you very much!

hi sarah - you must be excited about the move or are you now in london?

i think what you've heard is right - its certainly possible to get a flat online if you are comfortable in doing that. the only thing i'd say is that (like everywhere else) there are lots of shoddy places around so going to have a look in advance of moving in would probably be a good idea.

jobwise there is always plenty about and yes i def think a job in retail is possible. there are also always loads of bar/restaurant jobs if they interest you.

to give you an idea on budget i'd say a room will cost around £125per week for something quite nice plus bills at say another £20 per week (including council tax).

hope that helps and that you settle in well...
