Q. Who are the Spread Eagle Players?
The Spread Eagle Players are London's oldest functioning amateur dramatic society, having been in existence and consistently performing since 1889. We will be celebrating our 120th anniversary in 2009.
The group grew out of a Barclays Theatre Society set up for Barclay's staff and originally performed in its own theatre (sadly, long since gone).
Q. I don't work for Barclays can I join?
Please do! You don't have to be a Barclays member of staff to be a member of the drama society.
Q. Do I have to act?
Not if you don't want to. Believe me, whatever your skills there is a place for them in a theatre group!
Q. How much does it cost?
Membership fees are £20 a year taken as £10 every 6 months. performers pay a £10 'script fee' for each show they are cast in. Any extra money goes towards costume hire etc.
Q. Where do you rehearse?
In premises kindly provided by Barclays Bank and situated close to the Tower of London.
Q. When do you rehearse?
Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30 to about 9.
Q. Where do you stage your shows?
The Bridewell Theatre, Bride Lane, Blackfriars
