Oyster travel cards... Do they save you money?

Just got into country and am paying a lot for travel every day... Are the oyster cards worth what they are made out to be? What type of card would I order to get from Clapham Junction into London if I was travelling in say 5 out of 7 days?

Welcome to London and London prices
Oyster cards do work out cheaper than buying standard tickets everyday. You can buy season/monthly tickets on the card or just pre-pay amounts to the card which are used up whenever you travel. The prices for each journey using an Oyster card are cheaper than normal fares.
