Hi
My husband and I want to move from Australia to London for 12 mths to work and travel.
Just wondering if anyone could advise the best areas to live in London close to work areas and a safe area.
Thank you

Hiya
It's so difficult to give advice without knowing what sort of things you're into, what your budget is, where you'll work etc.. Try and post a bit more info and then we can perhaps give some better ideas.

I know that lots of aussies seem to live around Hammersmith, so I guess that may be a good place to start. Clapham Junction has great transport connections to most places and is pretty lively so that may also be worth a look.

Good luck

yeah for sure definately need more info - and don't forget that the cost of living is the same here if not more, however its based on our currency - ie if its $100 aud there then its 100 pound here - which works out to be even more like 200 and something in AUD so therefore u'll have to start by checking ur accomodation expenses as it can be quite dear here in london.

Well also dont forget that London is like nothing you've ever experienced before. Its so vast that there aren't any easy to identify safe/nice areas off hand.

If you could say where in London you are working people might be able to help with closer areas which would be suitable?

Hope you like it though!

The Snapper
Fulham and Putney are quite safe areas, and there are heaps of Aussies there as well. Also very easy 24 hour access into the city.

I recently found a good website that gives down to earth info helpful to aussies who are moving to the UK, have a look at www.universalwelcome.com.

Good luck!
