Want to be an Actor and don't know what 2 do?

Well, there are so many sites on the internet where people ask !how! to get to the point in their lifes and become an actor.

Every person who is already working as an actor and/or in the show-business is replying different.

There are sooo many people here who want to be an actor, they just dont know how to start! and then those acting people enter the game and tell them something about how to go on a audition and stuff like that! we as the future actors dont care! we cant use most of those comments how to start! we just have to know what to do to be heard and seen! it is said that sometimes the tiniest thing can help much more and be much more effective than huge explanations.

So, all the people who live in a village or where-ever, maybe you always wanted to be an actor and you just havent had the opportunities to do something for that because no money, no locations, no offers or anything and
you dont know what 2 do to be an actor, listen to me then!
you dont know where 2 go?
you dont know who to call to get one step closer to your dream?

I tell you what to do!

FIRST!
do never ever stop believing in yourself! YOU are an actor we (the world) just dont know it yet!

if you are looking for an agency, forget to search on the internet, this is shit!

never ever pay for an interview or a contract!

remember! If you have to pay for something that should be a job is not serious!
keep searching!

have u found an agency? perfect!
call them and ask them if they accept a decent application and if u r in the mood ( you better be) make a demo tape with your ordinary digicam!
just 3 or 4 scenes, the dont even have to make sense. do what u want!

JUST BE YOURSELF AND DONT TRY TO BE SOMEONE ELSE!

post it off and wait for an reply, if that agency want you to come for an interview (without paying an amount for that interview) go! and make yourself clear that you are the next best actor! dont overdo it, be natrual but try hard!

if u r urself try 2 find a proper way to explain ur agent why u wanna be an actor he will probably sign u!
then! your first step is made and u are an official actor!

if u have an agent everything is gonna be fine, he will protect you and will help u to get auditions.

how 2 make an audition?
u have to be able to read
be natural and amaze them with your personality! nothing else matters!

Thanks DennisMR. Not bad advice. Just wanna comment on what you have said about agents.

First, your description of an agency fits the description of an agent, rather than an agency. I take it you meant to put agent? There is a difference between an agent and an agency. Agents are one person who will find auditions that aren't available to the public and who have contacts. An agency is an organisation who find specifially supporing artist work for you, rather than acting roles. Like an agent, they take a cut of what you earn and don't charge an upfront payment. An agent is always best to be with if you want to make a career out of acting, rather than just doing it as a hobby and earning a few bob along the way.




You can find agents or agency's in the Contacts Book. I would suggest waiting to get nexts year one now though. You need to write to the agent, do not phone them. Send a professional headshot with updated CV and a covering letter. You must supply these as it shows professionalism. If you have the material (and money!) get a showreel together and send that off as well. I wouldn't suggest making it off your own digicam as it won't look as professional as it should be. As you can tell already, professionalism is key! Monologues are probably best, as scenes might not show off your best potential. Although having said that, duolgues can show how you work with others and your reactions. It has to be filmed well though.

Once you get an agent it doesn't mean you are a professional actor. You still have to get the work. And first you have to get passed the audition! It's hard work, that's why you have to make sure you want to do this as a career.

If you get interest from more than one agent, the interview that will follow is not just for them to see what your like, but for you to see what they're like too. You need to make sure you are going to trust that this agent will get you the work that you want. Make them work for you!



This I don't get. I've never auditioned for an agent before, but I presume they will just ask for a 1/2 minute monologue. Maybe some sight reading, but I doubt it. Is that what you mean by being able to read?
