I have relatives coming over from Australia on the weekend and we would like to take them to a nice traditional english pub for lunch...Somewhere near the West End? Any suggestions? Happy

Hiya sisnat,
The further into central you go the more bars and less traditional pubs there are, but if you're around the covent garden area there are a couple,
there's a really tiny little pub (seats about 20) called the Essex Serpent which is near the Covent Garden piazza - just as you walk across from Leicester Square - it's small but traditional.

The Corner Store is also pretty cool, big open plan pub room with a row of old folding chairs on one wall

If you're looking for tradition though, you'll probably want the Lamb & Flag which is the oldest pub in the area

Have a good night out!

Hi sisnat,

You can use our Club and Bars section here:
www.allinlondon.co.uk/clubs-bars.php

On the section homepage you'll see that you are able to search for pubs and bars either by region eg, "West End" or by tube station is you really want to refine your search.

On the following pages you can then browse the nearby pubs and bars and read descriptions and reviews of each venue, for the most part, the desctiptions will say if they are a tradional pub or not. You can then use our mapping function to find where they are located.

Descriptions will also usually state if food is served, eg:
www.allinlondon.co.uk/clubs_bars/venue-377.php

To save you reading each description, the names of the pubs are usually a dead givaway - ie, be looking for names like "King's Head", "Black Swan", "Fox and Hound", "Moody Cow", "Norfolk and Chance" and of course "The Queen Vic".

Hope you have a good time.

All the best,

AIL Staff
