Well i've signed up to be a volunteer for Crisis at christmas.
I've always wanted to do it but never got round to applying.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever done it before & what they did, what was it like etc?

Haven't done it, but well done. I imagine it's a bit depressing, but at least you're helping out and it's in the Christmas spirit, which seems to be lost under the scramble to get presents.

Thank you.

I've only signed up for 2 shifts which are on the 23rd & 24th.
Would loved to have done christmas day as i think that would be really special but i have 4 young kids & no way of getting there as theres no transport.
I might sign up for more shifts at the time but i didn't want to commite to too many shifts as i have kids.

Not with Crisis, but I did volunteer at a Salvation Army place in Vancouver when I lived there.

Depressing? Not quite like that, to be honest its more humbling, you go because you want to do good but you dont feel good about doing it, but thats the right thing. You get to see what some people have to go through, and you can make a difference for them.

But the real difference is if you continue to give your time otherwise, or just treat it as your once a year good feeling thing.
