Late Arrival at Victoria Station

Hi,

I'm going to be in London in January. We will be arriving on a flight which lands at Gatwick at 11pm. I guess by the time we clear customs etc and get the Gatwick express, it could be 1am by the time we arrive at Victoria station.

Is the Victoria station area safe at that time of night? We will probably want to get a taxi to our hotel in Kings Cross, are we likely to have any difficulty getting a cab at that time?

Thanks in advance,

Zeppelin

You may have a wait for a taxi, but Ive never been there that late to know.

Its safe enough, but of course like anywhere you need to keep aware of your surroundings.

It depends on where you are coming from as to your time of arrival there though, 1am from North America sounds right, from Europe you may be through quicker.

I reckon especially if you're arriving on a weekend i.e. Fri or Sat night it will still be really busy there and I can't imagine it being a problem. During the week could be a bit quieter but this is such a major station with buses going through the night from outside and the nearby coach station that it's not going to be dead. I think what Mistakenplane said is true, you just have to be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine :-)

Keep an eye on your valuables and bags. The type of crime that happens at Victoria station, when it happens, is usually in the realm of thefts/distraction thefts from opportunists.
