Evening reading places

Hi

Does anyone know somewhere in London - particularly North London - where you can get away with reading or writing in peace, in the evening? Something like a library?

The latest any library is willing to stay open is 8pm. Sadly, not very useful for people with day jobs.

Hopefully there's a few of you out there that find their homes full of distractions and seek refuge in order to get that book finished.

Thanks
Stiffey

Coffee shops? I can't imagine they're too busy in the evening, but then I could be wrong.

Orrrrr you could go on the train in a designated quiet carriage and just go up and down the line. Hee hee.

No, Im sorry I dont. Its actually very difficult to find a place to sit and read or write.

Best I have found is bookshops in the West End with later hours. Some have comfy chairs you can sit in and not be bothered.

That's a point, I know Borders in Kingston is open late, and they have a reading area upstairs where the coffee bit is.
